A surprise test in NSNIS (Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports) was not so surprising after all. Four of the athletes participating in the Commonwealth Games were pulled out by the AFI, Athletics Federation of India and were asked to leave camp before tests could be performed on them. Officials from the National Anti- Doping Agency confirmed that the four became unreachable days before the Asian All-Star meet. NADA drug test facilitators where presented with leave letters by coaches. AFI secretary Ravinder Chaudhary denies that they pulled out athletes from training camps, adding that the chief coach can back them up.

The disappearing act of Indian athletes during drug tests is now the trend in Indian sports. No disciplinary sanctions are being implemented and AFI is conveniently turning the other cheek. The athletes have been allowed to participate in the games amidst strong suspicions that they are playing doped.
